Our Restaurant seats more than 30 persons with more capacity in the large outdoor garden-area.

Try our delicious ethnic fresh local sikkim vegetables are being used in our kitchenSikkimese (Lepcha, Bhutia, Nepali), Indian, Chinese, Tibetan or Italian vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

In our effort to reflect the local cultures in every sense our guests can taste local ethnic specialities that are otherwise not commonly available. Local snacks made of fried corn, beautifully designed cookies, exotic fresh sauces, meals prepared with exotic ingredients such as lilly-flower, nettle,italian pizza oven at our restaurant bitter gourd, fremented soya-bean or half-fremented mustard-leaf are bound to ad variety to your culinary experience in Sikkim.

Our cook is trained to also prepare delicious salads with homemade dressings and original Italian specialities such as Gnocchi, Spaghetti or Pizza freshly baked for you traditional food and ethnic cuisine is being served at bamboo retreat restaurantin our imported traditional Pizza-oven.

Great care has also gone into creating a culture-reflecting ambience: our restaurant-furniture is partly traditionally Sikkimese-style with low seating and partly made of cane; Bhutanese and Lepcha-textiles have been used for our curtains and table-sets and a selection of handcrafted bamboo- and cane-items from Sikkim and other parts of Northeastern India decorate our walls.

Wholesome Meals

You can be assured that the food we serve has rich nutritional value. This factor we sincerely believe in is more important than decorative and unauthentic tasty dishes. As much as possible we use fresh, local, seasonal and organic foods.

Avoiding harmful additives

As much as possible we avoid using all types of harmful additives and preservatives. For example the flavor and colour-enhancer MSG (monosodium glutamate - or ‘azino moto’) is widely used all over Asia despite the fact that its intake result in adverse side effects such as depression, disorientation, eye damage, fatigue, headaches and obesity and more. MSG also affects the neurological pathways of the brain and disengages the “I am full” function explaining the effects of weight gain. Due to this reason, MSG is totally banned in our kitchen.

Cultivation of Organic Vegetables

The soil of the Retreat’s garden is 100% organic, fresh and totally free of pesticides and insecticides. The Vegetables go directly from our garden to our kitchen, including the seasonal ones that are bought from the local villagers as well.

Natural, healthy spices

We primarily add nature’s own spice items such as: Turmeric, Chili, Ginger, Coriander, Mint and Stevia to enhance our dishes. Many studies confirm that these also have powerful properties to prevent and help cure cancer.
